About PNP

Hey!  I’m Shauna.  I like to thumbs up.

Oakland lady.  Classical singer and voice teacher. Consumer of many delicious pork products.

This blog is about learning to love the burn!

Historically, I’ve viewed physical activity as a burden, a chore, punishment for pizza consumption.

In the many years that I yo-yo dieted and yo-yo exercised, there had been glimmers of inspiration. The first time I did the couch to 5K, I loved the pride of completing a run longer than I believed I was capable of.  Progress motivated me but fear held me back.

When I began this blog in February of 2012, I thought that I may have a hidden athlete within and that perhaps I had been too afraid of failure and shame to let her out.

I was absolutely right!

On June 3rd, I ran my first 5K and had an incredible experience.  Inspired to tackle new challenges, I trained and completed my first half marathon on my 30th birthday – October 7th, 2012.

Then I became a TRIATHLETE?!

AND THEN A MARATHONER!

I’ve also gone from  Dailey Method devotee to instructor!  I currently teach at the Berkeley and Piedmont Dailey Method studios.

In a short time, I’ve truly learned to love the burn and find myself exceeding my own expectations on the regular.  It’s a thrill and I’m very happy to share it with you!
